The Adventures of Blurry Man.

I was listening to the Clark Howard Show on the radio a while back, which is a consumer empowerment radio show. He said something along the lines of you don’t need to hire a photographer to shoot your wedding, because cameras are so great now that anyone can take great pictures. I wrote into the show and said that his statement was akin to saying that Michelangelo did such a great job with the statue of David because he carved it with a really great chisel. They actually read it on the air.

This brings me to my next point. Nothing profound or life changing today, but just some simple observations I’ve made as the person who’s always on the back-side of the camera. The dichotomy of taking pictures with modern camera equipment is this; You can take decent pictures with a decent digital camera with the lens that comes in the kit, but great equipment in the wrong hands has exactly the opposite effect. The better the equipment, the less forgiving it is, and the more damage an amateur can do.

If I were a superhero, my name would be Blurry Man. Whenever I hand my camera to someone to take a picture of me so I can have a memory that I was actually somewhere special…….. well, here are some examples.

Here’s a sighting of Blurry Man in Africa….with Blurry Woman.

And yet another sighting in another part of Africa.  I’ve also seen pictures of Blurry Man in the Caribbean and North America, but I wasn’t able to locate those shots in the archive.

I’m thankful that I’ve got shots of amazing memories from so many places. I just wish I was in focus in a few of them.
